My mother loves boxes. At Christmastime she is often more interested in the packaging than the gifts themselves, especially small or unusual boxes. This past Christmas my sister sent me some vintage postage stamps to add to my collection. She put the stamps in a very interesting Sees Candy box. It was sturdy and had an intriguing double door lid.I suppose I take a little after my mother. The box intrigued me. So I decided to try my hand at embellishing. I first wanted to change its color and texture. This was accomplished by tearing red tissue paper into small pieces, and then decoupaging over the entire surface, using a paint brush to apply the decoupage glue.
It was a fun project, and I decopaged a vintage Valentine box on the lid, along with several “Love” stamps. So close to February, the theme of course, Valentine’s Day.
